The souvenir sheet comprises of 5 pieces of stamps depicted the life of Wirebird or Charadrius sanctaechelenae species of bird. It was issued by St. Helena Post Office with marked logo of Bird Life International.

The Wirebird, Charadrius sanctaehelenae,or Saint Helena Plover, is a small wader endemic to the island of Saint Helena and has thin leg.This plover is resident all year on the open areas of Saint Helena, and it is thought that the widespread deforestation on the island, while generally harmful for the island's ecosystem, has in fact benefitted this particular species, since it lives in open clearings in the forest.Only some 200-220 adult birds are believed to remain.the Saint Helena Plover is uplisted to Critically Endangered with extinction in the 2007 IUCN Red List.
