Seychelles Scops-Owl of Seychelles. 2001

The Postal Administration of Seychelles issued a souvenir sheet composed of 5 pieces stamps depicted Seychelles scops-owl or Ortus insularis. The face value of each stamps are same, R3. The souvenir sheet marked logo of Bird Lilfe International and Logo of the Birdlife World Bird Festival 2001.This sheet issued in conjunction of the Birdlife World Bird Festival 2001.



The Seychelles scops-owl or called Otus insularis only found in Morne Seychellois National Park. This species also known as Bare-legged Scops-owl is a rare scops owl species.It was noticed by year 2002 that the population was stable at about 318 individuals. Therefore the Seychelles scops-owl listed by the IUCN as critically dangered species.
